pvp with axe + rifle, worth it?

I just came back after a long break when LE launced. I used my full ip reset and changed from ranged to melee. So what I wanna try is to get a rifle with AS and hotswap an axe and a rifle. I cant remember the name of any good rifle (with low AS cap). Is there anyone who tried this? is it worth spending IP's on? And do you have any recomandations regarding weapon of choice?

I've been looking at Kyr rifles, but the skill req. are too high for me to get any decent ql on..
