Since it seems to be working for most people, I have labeled rev 373 as 0.9.5 and uploaded it to sf.net.

Doh. Just read your last line there. So its actually finishing the aoitems.db file apparently. So maybe that exception is coming from somewhere else.

I can't seem to get AOIA to recognize my chars in:

1. the shop screen (all numbered-regardless of logging in while AoiA running)
2. in the items assistant page: no chars whatsoever... ew.

So, not sure what to do, the AOIA picksup all the accounts, and all the chars in each account, but, it can't read the chars names, and after following the startup advice: zone once, move stuff in/out of bank/open BP's, nothing comes up in the AOIA gui.

CAn anyone help?

One more bit of oddity: I had to move my AO directory into a my Document folder due to spasm bad sex between AO and windows vista. I thought there may have been a communication breakdown in changing/altering files in the my doc's folder, since the check box is grayed out under properties..(which I've tried to make uncheck but it keeps going back to grayed out checked)

recommendations &advice would be appreciated.

Yes, this is a known issue, and I have been experimenting with some ways of fixing it. However the fixes after 18.1 took presedence. I will start working on this problem again soon.

Another bug im having here with latest buld is that it prompts me for the AO installation folder every time i start aoia, after that it works fine, i copied over pref from older version to keep records i had from older build.

for next release could you add a -Start in Systray- command line tag or in-program switch? Would rock for windows-autostart :-)

Sounds like it is unable to update the ItemAssistant.conf file, or even create it. Check to see that you have write permissions to the directory and file.

It should contain the AO path you choose upon startup.

I had this issue with the last release (0.9.3 I think?) and no longer have it with the newest release.

Had the same problem, some files where write protected after copying from the .zip, removed the write protection and it worked fine after that.

updates DB fine, but i lost all toons items/equip/bank etc

anyway i can upgrade without having to log all chars - open all backpacks etc?

All your items and stuff is stored in the file called ItemAssistant.db. If you have the old file, you can copy it to the new directory for your AOIA installation. (Exit AOIA before copying the file)
