    Clicksaver + AO = crash

    Hello
I have a problem with Clicksaver and Anarchy-Online.
If i start up clicksaver before i log into AO , AO just crashes i the middle of the login.
If i start up AO first and log in and then start clicksaver after i have logged into AO , AO crashes.
I have tried running both programs in Compability mode Windows XP sp2 and as Administrator.
This is the error message i get up.

Sorry however Clicksaver is a 3rd Party application. Any Support can be posted in Knowledge Database or sent to the creator of the application.

    Hello there.
This problem is most likely caused by the "Data Execution Prevention" feature in Windows.
It sees that Clicksaver is accessing AO's memory addresses, and therefore kill off AO to prevent a hack. (yeah, any OS with half a brain would've killed off the offending application, not the offended one)

    Anyway.
To solve this, either turn off DEP (not recommended), or do the following:
    Rightclick on "My Computer".
    Select "Properties".
Click "Advanced system settings" on the left side (VISTA ONLY)
Should have a window, "System Properties", at tab "Advanced"
See the section "Performance", click the button "Settings".
Go to the tab Data Execution Prevention.
Select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select".
Click Add, and add client.exe (located in your AO directory)

If it asks if you want to restart your computer, do so.

    Windows 7 64 bit

For those of you using windows 7 64 when you try this you will get a error stating you can not turn off DEP for this program, here is a work around for that
    1 run cmd
2 at the command prompt type bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
    3 reboot
This will turn off DEP completely you will want to turn it on when you are done playing as having it off perminately is a bad idea
    to do so
    1 run cmd
2 type bcdedit /set nx AlwaysOn
    3 reboot

This will allow CS to run and not crash AO this is the only way I have found to get it to work on windows 7 64 however that said use at your own risk and please make sure to turn it back on when not playing and have good AV as the last this I want is for someone to get attacked

    Good luck

    Necro!

Please note that the OP is from 2008 and thus more than six years ago!

In the meantime AO ran out of player IDs and merged it's servers to one. We also have (more) 64-bit installations of a later version of Windows.

A description how to get Clicksaver and how to run it on 64-bit Windows can be found here:
