    Fun Fact Friday – 06/21/2013

Did you know? Omni-Tek Rubi-Ka is virtually bankrupt despite earning over Nine-Hundred Million Credits per Minute in exports.

Glorious Leader, Tarkhan Zora announced that, at last report, Omni-Tek Rubi-Ka (OTRK) is generating a cool 100 Billion (100,000,000,000) credits of profit per week from Notum Exports.

Hot Dog! Omni-Tek is rolling in it. Right?

    Not so fast.

At last report, OTRK is exporting One and a half million Tons of Notum every year. That’s three billion (3,000,000,000) pounds every year. And as we know, our notum export process is the Clon**** Notum Cannons which fire their payloads every 18 seconds.

With three (3) cannons firing every 18 seconds that’s 14,400 payloads per day. And, since we know OTRK is exporting, on average, one and a half million tons a year that’s 570.76 lbs per shot!

But, wait a minute. 570.76 lbs is impressive, but how much is that worth?

If we use Notum as a reference point (since it has a fixed weight and value), it’s worth about 372,222 credits per kilogram, or, 168,837 credits per lb.

“But, Pants”, you might say. “If Notum is worth 168,837 credits per lb, and we’re launching 570.76 lbs with every shot of the cannons, aren’t we earning a butt ton (Legit Scientific Unit of Measurement) of money?”

You’re absolutely correct. OTRK is generating Nine Trillion (9,713,632,936,896.00) credits every week from Notum Exports, however, it’s only retaining One Billion of those as profit. The conclusion is that the cost of operating Rubi-Ka is 9.6 Trillion Credits per Week, or 98.97% of OTRK Revenues.

Tip #743: As noted in Tip #244, tea bags have an infinite variety of uses. However, there's always one jerk who will want to give you crap over drinking tea. Particularly if in a new town, use this as an opportunity to assert yourself. Any drunken idiot can win a bar fight. It takes a real man to win a bar fight while enjoying a cup of Earl Grey.

Perhaps Omni-Tek's Latest Invention will be a CEO who won't spent all the company's money on Communication Dish upgrades. Har!

One should think, after all those years With the Notum cannons, that OT scientists would have twinked those guns to cost less to operate... Do we know anyone in OT-science dept?

I don't think it's the cost of the guns. It's more like the cost of the wars, R&D (Shadowlands) and silly, aforementioned, pet projects of the CEO.

Knowing what I know about just how a food industry establishments operate, I could offer a speculative viewpoint.

Beyond what some people believe restaurants as a small business do not rake in much quarterly profit. There are some examples that do well more then others, especially in terms of those that are Michellin rated. There are operations and processes that the money goes through including reinvestment, handling overhead costs, rental of space, insurance, and so on. So a profit yield like the one that is shown in graph is not entirely out of scope for a gross profit margin. Restauranteurs gather to form groups out of mutual business exchange and security, which increases their overall profit which is then reinvested in other ways - like the stock market. Companies like the New York based juggernaught Smith and Wollensky, are even larger and the branches of their empire are long and varied.

I do however, think that the profit bar is a bit low, tbh. Omni-tek is a much more grandiose structure than a single economic. However, it is possible to think that if Notum is their number 1 profit making product, how much of that money actually goes back into keeping all the Omni-tek Cities running and covering the losses of other assets. Even research and development can be quite a money sink if there aren't significant advantages to new technology.

This number Reflects OTRK, not Omni-Tek as a whole.

AFAIK, Notum is the #1 export from Rubi-Ka and most other items on the planet are the result of import or small scale manufacture.

Zora stated the Profit was from the Notum Industry. So we know the Income and the know the Profit, so we're able to subtract one from the other to get an Idea of how profitable that industry is.

I imagine what ever revenues they're receiving from the Import, Markup, and Resale of goods to the Neutrals and Omnis in nominal by comparison to the Notum Industry.

Is it possible that, due to monopoly issues, they had to "split up" their company, so they sell the Notum to the parent company, then the parent company sells it at a much higher profit margin elsewhere? Could just be another form of Hollywood accounting.
