Thread: Weird glitches

  1. #21
Bump. Tried reinstalling AO n times, installing in different directories, launching by r-clicking and choosing nVidia, adding AO client to nVidia 3D settings list, setting nVidia as the main GPU for my entire system, launching AO in Win7 compatibility mode as well as pretty much all settings in the launcher suggested on the forums. Despite everything nVidia doesn't recognize AO, thus still experiencing fancy red light show, half the GUI keeps disappearing upon opening GMI and ground falls off.

Some specs: Win8.1, nVidia GeForce GTX 860M, Intel HD 4600.

Right click -> start with nvidia gpu
Go to settings and set quality to 16 bits
And dont forget to run in windowed mode
    Enjoy!

Are you sure you're using the most updated version of intel HD 4000 graphics? Because I installed the recommended through Intel's device updater and it doesn't update the correct driver...
Use this one: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...?DwnldID=24593 (win64_153332.zip) and try again
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?lang=eng or search for your relative intel graphics (4000 or 4600) and install the correct most recent driver.
    4600: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...ng&ProdId=3720

I had the same issue as you did but installing the above driver fixed it.

I use nvidia gtx 660m & Intel graphics hd 4000 ... I've never used my nvidia card for AO, so it's all on the intel graphics.

With the onset of awakened beast armor, we can now equip Alpha chest on Atrox Soldiers & Alpha Brain on Atrox Doctors.

That didn't help either. :/ Tweaking the intel drivers allowed me to run around for a minute without the red lines (as long as I had all effects disabled), until the client crashed. Now the client crashes upon launching everytime.

I had this exact problem and the only viable solution for me was to downgrade windows from 8.1 to 8.0, cancel the windows updates and use the GeForce by right clicking AO's exe file and choose run with Geforce each time I want to launch it. I know it's a lot of trouble reinstalling windows, but if you really want to play it, you can afford a couple hours downgrading.

Thanks for the replies. I'm afraid downgrading isn't an option for me as I would have way too much to reinstall and the probable cause (optimus) would still remain.

I definitely didn't expect to quit because of the engine delay.

That answered my question. I had the same and tried every suggestion. I ended up installing w7 (64bit) and used up to date drivers. Now i don't have problems anymore.

Any updates on this one? I bought a new laptop and now this "feature" is bugging me aswell.

    specs:
    -Windows 8.1 64bit
    -Intel 4600 & gtx970m

    I've tried the basic stuff:
    -Updating to latest drivers
-Adding ao .exe files to nvidia and select run with geforce
-Run ao with nvidia graphics processor
-Tried different graphics settings windowed/borderless/16bit... etc
-Someone said disabling secure boot device from bios helped on some game but I tried and it didn't help with ao.

I don't want to install another version of Windows or try to use older GeForce drivers. Is there anything else to do to solve this?
