    Being lvl 200.

    Can one explain to me why a 199 gets more XP from a daily than a 200? (This also goes for old and new inferno missions)?

    Digitalbath:

    The maximum XP/SK a character can get in one tick is 20% of what it needs for the next level. Since at 200 XP turns to SK, it gets squashed by a factor of 1000.
    The Research you get is, thus, limited by that.



    Now that we sorted that, let's have it fixed! Funcom please be nice to the level 200 scene and let us research at a pace that keeps us sane.

    The Research you get is, thus, limited by that.

    It was probably an unintended side-effect since the XP->SK transition was designed for SL.. and research was designed for LE. It's easy to overlook that kind of stuff.

    I had no idea it worked like that. That is must really suck for a lvl 200.

    I know.. I've recently leveled my soldier from 160 to 202. 200-202 really hurts even just SK-wise. Research for 200 twinks must be a mind-numbing experience at this point? Never tried it myself.

    Yea, I had already sorta figured that was the cause of this evil.

    This is my second lvl 200 im taking towards le70, and yes it's quite annoying. Petitioned it twice now, so all there's left now is sit back and hope michi acknowledges this as unintended. The 200 scene is quite big relative to population of AO.

    30% of lvl 200: 22018K XP = 2,45% of R10 (41 dailies needed)
    20% of lvl 201: 16K SK = 1,78% of R10 (56 dailies needed)
    5% of lvl 220: 127K SK = 14,1% of R10 (10 dailies needed, previously 20)

    If my math is correct the drop is significant, but not disastrous. Regardless, getting you final two research levels from daily rewards is going to take a very long time before you are closer to level 220.

    Perhaps disabling xp gains (in options) should also disable the 20% cap of ur current lvl.

    This way characters at set levels only doing research would be able to benefit fully from the research caps and not be overruled by their level caps.

    It's tricky. It would have to also disable the overflow going into the xp pool or you could bypass the 20% xp limit up to the pool's limit with some creative use of that mechanic.

    I'm not sure I 100% support major changes to this. 200 twinks are one of the last few projects that takes real commitment left in the game. If there were some content that focuses more on high XP per kill rather than huge rewards at the end, I'd support that over changing the XP->SK conversion.

    It's not really commitment in a positive way though. It's just mindless grinding, nothing else. The commitment that lies in 200 twinks is the actual twinking and perhaps getting all the required items to do so.

    I see your point and I agree to some extend.

    Perhaps asking for a similar research reward as 220 gets is too much, but currently staying 199 to finish your 9's is the optimal solution to some extend, and that seems fairly unintended.

    wait, wasnt the maximum xp you can get the 10% of the total xp req. to level up? when did they change this?
    and also, afaik research isnt effected by the xp-sk transition at 200. people stay at 199 because of easy dailies. in fact, it was always better to go 200 if you mainly level your research via inf missions.
    either my knowledge of this is seriously lacking or the last patch changed some things for the worse..

    • The current Research cap is 10%, up from 5% previously.
    • Dailies have their own reward caps, as outlined in the Daily Mission Reward Item, which is 20% of your level at 200.
    • You require 80,000 SK to level from 200 -> 201, 20% of which is 16,000 SK which translates into 16,000,000 XP
    • The effective research cap for a level 10 research line is 90,000 SK or 90,000,000,000 XP, which you cannot receive with daily mission rewards.
    • You can receive a full capping reward from an Inf Hard
    • Faction, which affects the XP -> SK conversion (XP / 1,000 / (faction / 500)) does not affect Research, as the research system is based solely on XP, and not SK.
    • The common misconception that the lower your faction the worse your Research XP was due to the system message reporting on your research gains used to change to reporting on SK at 200+, which was incorrect and fixed.
    • @Emperor, the maximum you can get is still 10% outside of the reward mechanic.

    so according to wakis post, beiing 200 only effects your daily reward, and if you have enough faction, being 199 or 200 still doesnt make a difference if your main source of research is inf missions..

    No, the reward is capped at 16k SK for a level 200, so unless you're doing hards and relying on the mob xp and not the reward..... it sucks.

    I personally like to get lvl 8's research across the board before lvl 200. If you set research to 80% during the missions you should hit lvl 10's across the board before 220. Normally before boss I drop it back down to 20% for reward and for daily mission rewards also.
