Login handler down, crash when zoning

Same problem here.

Funny thing is that I had dual or tripple logged (for item banks and transfers) and this problem only happened on my main (paid) account.
Froobs were all the time logged and OK (no LD) and as I was on team speak all the time I am 99% sure that it is not my internet conection.

One more thing I noticed there was sometime quite long delay (10-15 sec) between the moment I logged on (with all graphics so I could stand up and start running) and moment I saw anything in any of my chat windows (bots, org msg, and other general spam)

I petitioned this aswell and had a GM ask me to run a ping and tracert on "chat.d1.funcom.com". instead of fixing this another GM replied and is blaming my ISP... I wonder howlong it'll take funcom to realise it's their servers and fix it finally...

Same problem here, started 2 days ago.

Long wait of ''Downloading dimension information" and "Updating dimension". Then after I enter pw to log on, window freezes for about 20s and I get " Error - Login handler not found". Then in-game, I get disconnects when zooning. Also the 15s delay in loading the chat and bot invites is there too. After I log on, game is normal unles i zone and disconnect. GMI also has an "Error" message sometimes.


What's causing this? My internet works well and normal on everything else.

When I do tracert chat.d1.funcom.com then
1st 10 steps are OK and then I start getting a "time out msg" and sometime (after long delay) I get adress of FC (fw1-nj4.game-hosting.com[37.18.192.4] (which is FC server)
then a random mix (3-7) time out msg followed by conetion to FC server (sometime it has Age of Conan in name)

I am not an expert but it look like problem is with some ISP near FC and not on my end ...

I am no expert neither, but there are multiple handlers, d1 is one of them and they seem to be assigned at random on zone/login. Doing a tracert on ie. "chat.d2.funcom.com" works fine tho I dunno if this is even being used for Anarchy. Regarding the Age of Conan.. They use those servers for AO now since quite some years.

Everything else (other online games, all web pages, team speak etc. works perfectly) except AO.
I am tired of getting msg "unable to find login handler" plus client shutdown every time I zone ...

worked for a few hours this morning, now it's not working again..

As temp solution you can use "battleping". Still issues with the login handler, sometimes chat client still disconnects, but atleast you won't disconnect and crash on zoning/logging in.
It's free with evry 20 min a disconnection.. or less than 5 € a month and you won't disconnect at all.

I have the exact same issue. Yes, again. 5 days ago also, was pretty damn happy I was finally able to play again together with my little brother yesterday, now we're experiencing the same issues again. This is really getting on my nerves atm.

Close all AO clients and do the first step to fixing this problem:

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Search for "Firewall"
3. Go to Firewall
4. Advanced Settings
5. Click on Inbound Rules
6. Click on "New rule.."
7. Select "Port"
8. Click "Next"
9. Check "TCP"
10. At "Specific local ports" add "7000-7999" without " "
11. Click "Next"
12. Make sure "Allow the connection" is checked
13. Click "Next"
14. Click "Next" again
15. Name it something like "AO"
16. Click "Finish"

Second step to fixing this problem:

Redo all the steps above until you reach step 8.
9. Check "UDP"
10. At "Specific local ports" add "6881-6889" - without " "
11. Click "Next"
12. Make sure "Allow the connection" is checked
13. Click "Next"
14. Click "Next" again
15. Name it something like "AO2"
16. Click "Finish"


Restart PC and start AO.

Im having the same problem with my AO atm.
Started about a week ago, started by crashing my AO client everytime im zoning, next day it started crashing 9 outta 10 times when i try to log in, now the launcher only get past the "updating dimension information" 1 outta 10 times making it impossible to play AO.
It took me 2 hours of "zoning, crashing, trying to log in, trying to update dimension information" to get from Elysium garden to borealis.

I had same problem for the last few days, none of the mentioned solutions did not work for me.
So I did clean install of the windows, that didn't work either, same problem persisted. So I gave up and was continue to install applications that I need.
And then after installing Visual Studio Code BAM!!! AO works fine.

My guess would be that probably some of Visual Studio Code dependency did the work, most likely Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2.
Anyway it's worth a try. Hope it helps.

LOL finally fixed the issue. It all started after i installed WIN10 and AO wont work, so i had to do clean reinstall of Win 7.

Seems like we need to OPEN PORTS in windows firewall and router both.

Ports to open are TCP protocol: 80, 7012, 7013 and 7500 - 7600.
