I'd rather see docs get improvements to their killing power in the form of nanos
I am wiser than any god or scientist, for I have squared the circle and cubed Earth's sphere, thus I have created 4 simultaneous separate 24 hour days within a 4-corner (as in a 4-corner classroom) rotation of Earth. See for yourself the absolute proof.

Indeed. The new JAME XIII will supply even better what the old JAME did @ TL4, 5 and early 6: Cheap, easy and practical dd. Be it for docs, crats, engis, or whoever else uses them. Even more so now with the better mods: 25 more min dmg, 200 more MBS, another +1% crit.
Also: The weapon has never been 1.5/1.5. It was always 2/2.
If you want to speed the weapon up without maxing ranged init, then you can always equip the HUD Upgrade: Enhanced Target Acquisition from Foremans/Biomare. That's almost 1s faster attack time right there.
If you really want a better/faster weapon, you could always go for the MBC, or crat/doc/engi pistols, or wait for lvl151 and get a weapon in S7, or, or, or... so many choices.
Do it stay yesdrop or turn nodrop?
Stays yes drop, having mobs with bad drop rates, only have one out of 19 possible lucky drops turn nodrop when upgraded would make it as inacceable as horned edge to the majority of people, so no lucky its yes drop.
