Why does the downloader delete the part files it have downloaded if it failes mid download?

Because it's terrible.
When the downloader starts, the first file it grabs is a plain-text manifest file.
Open it, and put the URIs to the files it's downloading into a real download manager.
It will be faster, and more reliable..

DOH just noticed it also after you wrote it that there was a current file. Amazed they didnt reuse the torrent download they once used. http download even. Amazing

What download management would you use, just spent 3 days trying to get the game tried old and new same issue, thing is at 200kb/s it's a overnight job for me.
Seems odd the main place people would go isn't reliable
Any other suggestions to get back online would also be welcome

Free Download Manager is what I use, otherwise something like JDownloader will work as well.
