I would like to request that we re-implement the old PvP title system.
It was mentioned that this would not be revisited until after the release of 18.7. My apologies for not being able to find the reference, but now that 18.7 has been released, I'd like to bring the topic back up again.
For those who are not familiar with this system, you could gain points (not visible to the user) towards your next title when killing someone of your title or higher. However, the beauty in the system is that you could also lose points if killed by someone with the same title or lower.
The titles were as follows and would be displayed above your head:
No Title, Freshman, Rookie, Apprentice, Novice, Neophyte, Experienced, Expert, Master, Game Master, Champion (I believe these were the original titles).
Advocates of this system are many when it comes to the player base. This element of PvP made the game SO much more fun in my opinion. The thought that you actually had something to lose, the thrill of trying to get that next title, and seeing 'You gained a new PvP title!' were the reasons I played the game.
Some say that it promotes zerging and "Title-Hugging". That's true. People will do that. If you've made it to the higher-end titles, that says something about your PvP ability in my opinion (Unless you farmed it). People who reach that level should be proud of their accomplishment. I believe it'd be an honor for people to go into a BS and aim solely for me. It would mean that I am a formidable opponent or at least worth killing/targeting.
The reason I am requesting this change is because PvP is a very important aspect of Anarchy Online and the current title system requires a mind-numbing farm of thousands of kills. A reward-based system is much more fun (opinion) and with multiple people targeting different opponents, you wouldn't see a mass extinction of one side. People/Groups would be faced with the option of working together as a unit and taking out the strongest attacking and support opponents versus trying to obtain personal gain by going after a target that will help them achieve their next title. I believe this plays to the true spirit of Anarchy
