Game keeps crashing straight to the desktop after I try to login with my characters.

Win-7-8-10 don't have the dx9 .dll files; a lot of games will ask to install directX AO doesn't (yet tm)

No, you just have to DL the Directx 9 files. AO is working fine w/ W10 for me though. Both the old and new clients.

Which Directx 9 files am I supposed to download? Can I download the files online?

I tried to download it via the Win10 download, but it only gives me the option of installing Win10 on my laptop, which I don't want.

I cleaned and reinstalled the drivers to the latest version, but still a no-go.

Get the net frame updates, C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION basically means a program tried to write or access a file that doesn't exist, or that your processor or motherboard chipset is not installed correctly.

Well, I updated the net frames, but still no joy.

This is the only game that I cannot run at the moment, which is pretty irritating to say the least.

Ok....

I can't even patch the game now, even with the downloadable patch files. After every patch, it keeps on telling me to restart the computer. AFTER EVERY PATCH! Is this normal?

Help, please! I really want to get back into the game again.

You could try right clicking the AO icon and "Run as Administrator".

2. if same problems in other games then its related to same source
3. if no, then risk of problem is high with ao

I've tried running the game as administrator, but still no joy.

I can run any game, including the newest ones that I just recently bought on Steam, so I know it's not an issue with my PC at all.

Any solutions?

EVERY TIME I restart my computer after a patch is installed, the game keeps on stating that some of the game files have been corrupted.

Sounds like either something's wrong with your drive (unlikely) or, more simply that that some anti-virus/malware package is messing with AO without any good reason for it (known to happen and was even on some patch notes a while back).
On any event, it's definitely something within your system messing it up, just gotta track it down.

EDIT:
About the access violations, assuming no corrupt files you should make sure you have the common stuff to make most modern games/apps work properly:
- Updated graphics drivers
- Updated VC/DirectX redistributable stuffs
- Updated .NET framework stuffs.

Google it and get the relevant installers directly from microsoft for the redist/.net stuff.. and amd/nvidia if desktop or your laptop's manufacturer if not for the graphics stuff.

It's a pain in the ass to get some machines to run smooth but it's worth it.

I've already updated my drivers to the latest version, but I do not know which VC/.NET framework updates I need to download and install.

I'm kind of a noob when it comes to advanced computer issues, so any assistance would be appreciated. Just for information sake, I have win7 x64.

I literally gave up on FC support as they did not fix this issue after a **** load of answered emails.
