Thread: Item Assistant

    IA should now, finally, remember where you installed it.
    Updating should get easier

    OBS: It will remember it "from now on", as in, after updating to the latest version, it will start keeping track.

    I got this error after installing the latest update this morning: I hit continue and I get a blank summary page.

    See the end of this message for details on invoking
    just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Which of all these files is the database file? If I wanted to re-install AI Light in a new location?

  4. #84
    Lol.. nice folder name..

    Can you confirm if the html directory does indeed contain a summary.html file?
    If not, you may need to reinstall (uninstall and install again)

    It won't affect your item database, as it's stored elsewhere.

    edit: The database can be found at "%appdata%\..\local\evilsoft\ialight\data\db1.sdf" , never a bad idea to make a backup

    I pushed a new update with the install directory stuff removed again, somethings definitely very wrong.
    You're not the only one who's run into it, getting reports in ;p

    Should I re-install? It is not seeing an update available. Or, is the update not there this fast?

    I just noticed ..... System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\AOIA\AO Item assistant Mr Pete\html\summary.html'.
    at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)

    AI Light thinks the HTML directory is inside the Install directory per the message above.

    My HTML directory is at the C prompt ... C:/html ... not inside /aoia mr pete

    Heh.. lovely.. Just reinstall.

    Download the latest and install over.

    I'll see about moving to another installer, the one I'm using is fairly simple and thus fairly limited.

    I re-installed over the top of the broken one and it seems to be fine now.

    It says I am now version 1.0.5793.26216

    For those that did not update earlier today, should they ignore any "there is a new update" messages? Or, will it now update thru two?

    When I had issues this morning my house-mate did not update.

    Now it will update to the one you have, so hopefully nobody else should run into this issue.
    I never distribute more than one version at a time (with the exception of test builds distributed via custom links)

    Bonjourno, figured I'd finally make the move from running 3 instances of old AOIA to one instance of IAL!

    However, having a slightly odd issue, in fact I have no idea what it is. Installed IAL (already had .net and SQL funtimes installed) and for some reason, I simply can't run it. It starts a process but I get nothing, no windows appear, no logs, nothing!
    As I don't even get a log file appearing, I don't really know where to start digging! What should I try next?

    No luck with run as admin or in compatibility mode, each time I run it I get a new process running but no UI!

    Ouch.. thats a tricky import.. since IA wipes the database when it imports..

    If you want, you can send me your 3 AOIA databases and I'll merge them into a single IA database.
    (assuming these are test/live/beta instances?)

  17. #97
    I'm not importing, I'm starting over, I had 3 partial DBs that I was too lazy to merge - hence why running 3 instances previously

    But you got it running now? no AV issues?

    Which AV are you running? got another user who can't for the life of him start IA, and no logfiles are created.

    Yes, running now. I've just created exceptions for it, I'm running Avast (for shame!) and I'm not sure *why* it was blocking IA to begin with, because when it was scanned etc it seemed happy enough with it!

    I should really get around to changing AV.

    Thanks! Same AV that the other user is running.
    May very well have solved his problem!

    EDIT: He got it running, the culprit was avast.
