It's long overdue. MA is a solid weapon for Docs and there is no good reason why this weapon shouldn't be opened up to them.
It also seems ridiculously easy to enable. Like... "add profession: Doctor" et voilà.

lots of easy things to do, but they never do it.
its not hard for funcomt to do much things, but they wont becose they are afraid to please the community
Profession locks on a lot of items are a legacy from Shadowlands of railroading professions into certain builds. It would be very awesome if part of balancing was to remove most of these tags and widen out 2nd and 3rd tier options. Combined MA weapons are as good a place as any to start.
Its ****e in comparison to the tools available now. Upgraded BoB and tonfas etc.
