Mailing system. Cant send

Haven't played since 2004, and i find myself severely lost..

I have several old toons, but wanted to start fresh, and sending over some supplies from the old chars using the mail system.
However it wont let me!
gives me a message saying limited to paying characters only.

I have a paid SL account. Was is los?

You won't be able to get any help with that from forums i'm afraid. You should be able to /petition that and get a GM to assist you with it. Alternatively, you can contact support through email also http://help.funcom.com/

I don't remember really, but also don't recall having a mailing system before AI
Last year I resubbed the Sloob account, and couldn't use the Mail either

You're correct, the old GMI always used to have the AI requirement so I can't imagine that's changed since the new one was put in. Perhaps that's why you can't use it, if you don't have the AI expansion.

Indeed, sloob accounts and froob accounts can't use the mail system - though there was a one off payment thing in the shop in the early days that would unlock mail access for an account without AI. I used it to give my primary froob account mail access, but I don't know if that offer is still around.

don't know how it is for a sloob account. don't have one.
