Nano Stacking Order (GSF vs. RI)

Something thats really been bothering me for quite a while is the change made to nano stacking orders, specifically the fixer nanos Gridspace Freedom (48ncu, 75evade720rs) and Highest +all damage modifier (semi-sentient? 40ncu, +40dmg).

I can't tell you how many times I get ninja buffed by fixers and have my OSB of Reduce Inertia (42ncu, 120evade) and Assassin's Grin (27ncu, +45dmg) cancelled without noticing, then port to xan or shadowlands only to realize now I have ZERO evade buff, and have to go back to my buffing toon(agent in fp MA) on RK, rebuff and pray no fixers can find me until my warping beacons are useable again(5-10minutes). I can understand the change to GSF made some time ago now in the sense that you may not want it the other way around if you are a lowbie and lack runspeed. But at the same time it gives less evades and is not useable in shadowlands and many other areas as RI can be (clearly superior buff). As far as the dmg buff goes imo it is complete nonsense that a +40 dmg nano that uses 40 ncu is somehow better than a +45 dmg that takes 27 ncu. I know it can be cast by more profs than assassin's grin but its just ridiculous in terms of better nanos being higher in stack order so you cannot be outbuffed by lesser nanos (this is obviously wrong imo and must be changed ASAP). The issue I have with GSF is a little more complex and I'd like to have a discussion with the community of ways to possibly correct this problem in hopes of bringing positive change in game.

Also worth noting is that personally I never had a problem with martial artists cancelling my GSF with RI when the stack order used to be reversed, it just never happened to me. For some reason in my experience fixers get some sort of enjoyment from buffing anything that moves. Why is this? low nanocost? I give up.....

Currently I avoid fixers like the plague on RK, try to message them early and ask not to be buffed gsf/+dmg, and RAGE at ninja buffers when they slight me in this way :b. I understand if I am snared, having rs above the cap there is less change in speed but IDGAF I would always prefer to have the higher evade values from RI and be able to go to shadowlands/xan with that advantage.

Key point is this fix needs to maintain GSF and RI not stackable, but also not to cancel eachother, so those who want the rs can't be screwed out of it if they already have the buff and vice versa for those who value high evades and being able to take those evades to shadowlands/xan.

    flame on.

    2005 (and before): http://forums.anarchy-online.com/sho...9-GSF-H8-Tread
    (GSF over-wrote RI)

    Patch 17.7 (2007): http://forums.anarchy-online.com/sho...stacking-order
(RI was higher stacking than GSF)

I forget what patch it was that put GSF back to over writing RI...
Really, just remove the evades from GSF and have it in the same "runspeed" nanoline as "Faster than your Shadow" and have the evades in the same line as RI.

On the note with Assassin's Grin, I really do hate that fixer damage buffs over-write it as:
    1. The fixer damage buffs, buff LESS than the agent buff (45 at best agent, 40 at best fixer)
    2. The fixer damage buff takes MORE ncu than agent (27 ncu for agent, 40 for fixer)
    3. They have the same duration: 4 hours

Improved Semi-Sentient Augmentation Cloud & Improved Neural Interfaced Augmentation Cloud both have stacking orders higher than Assassin's Grin (most of the fixer damage buffer nanoline have higher stacking orders than Assassin's Grin) yet takes more NCU and give less damage buffed, please this really needs to be fixed. Even an agent gets ninja buffed by that one fixer (Kain) in OA all day.

I agree wholeheartedly. Another possible solution would be to allow locking buffs, so that it will not get replaced by one higher up in the same nano-line.

I like that idea. Maybe a buff you can cast on yourself to block all outside buffs. Only problem I can see with that is allowing some way of letting things like auras/blockers/etc to still come through might be a little tough to implement. Adding to the drop-down list when you hold click on buffs to "lock buff" would work for me just as you can now lock on single pieces of equipment. I know there are soldiers out there who might like a dummy ams buff to prevent someone from filling their ncu also.

Being helpful maybe. ;p In my defense I do try to avoid overwriting RI and Assassin's Grin, and have offerened to log my shade when I've overwritten FYTS. Sadly I don't have an agent or an MA.

But actually I agree with you, I would much rather see the evades stripped out of the fixer runbuffs, so we have a runspeed line and an evades line. Would keep me from occasionally being yelled at. ;p And fixing the stacking order of the dmg buffs really should be a nobrainer.

Stop being butthurt and check your NCU before you start combat. Really, the things people complain about...

I'll welcome fixer ninja buffs any day. Running from one place to another takes up far more of my time than checking my NCU before I start killing something that requires more than one hand to survive.
