I've been doing some research on AIML and artificial intelligence (In case you are interested, check out ALICE) and I had an idea for Fixers.
Fixers are supposed to be something along the line of couriers and smugglers. Well, here goes:
Underground contacts spawn in shady alleys and hidden locations, waiting for some business to come by and make a transaction. Any player of any profession can walk up to the contact, slip them some cash, and state that they want to deliver an item to another player. The contact then agrees to get in touch with an individual to deliver the goods. The item is handed over to the contact, and the pact is sealed. From there, a fixer would speak with the underground contact, say a few choice words (fixer lingo) and the contact would make sure she is a fixer. From there, a contact point is established and the item is handed to the fixer. The fixer then goes to the contact point, and drops off the item to another player who is notified that the item will be delivered at such-and-such destination previously, or if the player is offline, delivered to another contact point. When the other player appears online, the other end of the contact point recieves a tell, stating that the item has arrived and is ready to pick up. The coordinates are given, and all they have to do is pick it up. Once they go to the pickup contact, a secret phrase is passed along, and the transaction is made.
Benefits of doing this system:
- The fixer that does the smuggling gets XP and Credits
- The one who is sending the item is guaranteed that the item will reach it's destination
- The one getting the item is guaranteed that they will recieve the item
- Increases the RP aspect of the role of a fixer
I am 100% positive that this could be heavily exploited, so input would be greatly appreciated on how to make this foolproof. This would be a perfect, non-combat, fixer specific quest-type mission.
I don't know how viable this would be for FunCom, but at least some tweaking to pitch this idea would make some eyebrows raise.
Lemme know what you think.
