Is 3rd party control software allowed?

So from my experiences playing EVE online and world of warcraft, multiboxing/clienting using a 3rd party program is completely legal and sanctioned by the company (CCP/Blizzard)

I'm just wondering what FCs stance on this was?

As per Customer Service management, multiboxing, as in, a player actively sending inputs to multiple clients at once, is allowed.

Unattended gameplay/botting is still illegal.

Kind of NOT on topic maybe but from EULA :

"9. You may not use any third party software to modify the client in order to change Game play or manipulate the client. You may not use any means of unattended gameplay, this includes macros not supported by the in-game client, mechanical means, or any other means deemed to be in violation by Funcom."

Does this mean keyboards with macrokeys are illegal to use ?

It's not strange at all that AO's playerbase is shrinking and few new players join AO's ranks when FC have this mentality about things.

If anyone asks me if they should ever play AO, I will have to tell them no, because AO is a game where it's actually OK to control 1 character and have those inputs be sent to 6 more characters so that you are 6 times as powerful. No new player would want to deal with a game like that. It's hard enough to make 1 good character that does well in AO. Let alone meeting people that run around as a one man team, without the drawbacks of having to alt-tab.

This is a weird statement as threadstarter just said EVE online and World of Warcraft allows such software. You're making it sound like FunCom is the only company in the world allowing it... ?

Further clarification is needed here.

While multi-boxing, you are only present with 1 client at a time.
The other client instances should have no activity as they are technically AFK.

So, can someone please explain how using 3rd party control software to send inputs to multiple clients is actually not a violation of the Unattended Gameplay/Botting clause ? And by someone, I'm looking squarely at FC staff.

Seriously. I don't care the slightest about NW or pvp but FC take some action please. It'll make everything better including more teamplay in the game. I bet that the reason AO has become a solo play in most occassions is multiboxing along some other reason but if I had to state 'em all I'd get way out of this thread's intended meaning.

And stop making even more people cancel their subs. We're not enough as of now already. You should try to bring more players into the game than making the already existant ones cancel their subs.
