    More newbie questions

    Hello,

This weekend was my first time in-game in many years. I created an adventurer and went through the Rubi-Ka newbie grounds (and had fun, thank you Funcom!). I then took him to Jobe Research to re-acquaint myself with basic facts about Shadowlands. (I farmed the hecklers in the Research area for about an hour, hoping they still dropped gold bars, but alas, nada ....) I have a few questions for any kind souls willing to help *smile*

    (1) I don't remember having a cash crunch like I'm experiencing this weekend. It's taking hours to save up enough credits to buy one spell crystal. I thought I would do missions to get cash, but the missions take so long as a low-level player (just travelling to the missions is painful) the time:benefit ratio doesn't seem worth it. As mentioned above, I tried killing hecklers in Jobe Research to get valuable precious metal bars, but maybe those aren't in the game anymore.

Do you have any recommendations (quests, missions, something else?) for a new player looking to raise just enough credits to buy spell crystals, please?

    (2) In one of Fixxerspy's many posts here, I read something about the benefits of performing missions prior to level 25. Something about tokens. Can you please elaborate on what she was referring to, and why, at level 9, I might want to go do missions before I hit 25?

    (3) How do I see my faction standings?

    (4) At level 9, I am still using the newbie pistols given to me at level 1. Where/how can I upgrade to a better weapon, please?

    Thanks and best regards,
    Durgyn

download clicksaver (google it ) and roll some QL 10 concrete cushion missions, these sell around 500k a pair and if ya roll a few pairs (roll a spare pair for yourself too) should give ya enough creds to tide you over

a nice weapon for lowbie ranged adv's are BBI Faithful

Ask in OOC or shopping channel if a trader can pick you a couple of pairs up from the trader shop

not too sure about your other questions myself.. so i wont attempt an answer
    hope this helps

... oh and ingots were nerfed

If you don't mind grinding leets and reets in the old backyards, they can give you some easy credits farming "Take me to the shop". Those were nerfed from ICC Shuttleport...

In SL, pearls are the best money makers for low level players, but not that common anymore..

The metal bars (ingots) were removed from hecks more a year ago
That means the best bet for cash in SL is pearls and some other items and monster parts.
These parts can be made into blood plasma with a bio commuter. (Get it from the tradeskill section in the RK shops, see more in the Doctor forum) This process needs IP in a tradeskill so if you don't want to spend IP that way you need to ask another player to help you out.
The kicker is, plasma sells for a lot more than what the monster part does and even more if you get a trader to sell it for you in the specialist shop.

Incidentally, non-human mobs on RK drops monster parts too.

As Donz said, you can get certain sought-after items at lowlevels, pillows at level 10 and at level 22 you can go for Quartz rifles. (the rifle buffs treatment, much needed later on so get one for yourself too)

One thing to remember, loot corpses on RK (your own kills..) as they both give you credits and drop items - mostly shopfood but the occasional useful item as well.
Try missioning for your armor, weapons and nanos, at least upgrade as you go. A credit saved is a credit earned.

There's a thread on making money at low levels and it's still quite up to date.

Actually the sweet spot for tokens is around 90 and 120.
However, when you do mishies at low levels you get the first upgrades to your token board and the extra HP can often be quite useful.

Bottom right corner, there's a button that shows your faction. (Icon is a flag, iirc.)

Check the advy board to see what to use and when.
Mostly your starter weapons can last a while, especially if you upgraded them on ICC Island.

If you kill your way around SL, look for the first specialisation, The Mariners Father. They can sell for 1 mill if youre lucky. Most of the time youre not, about 3-400k is the common price Ive seen. you can have at least three of the first spec, 1 assembled into the book, 1 partly assembled into two halvs and 1 as four sheets.
Theres also good armor to be found around, outdoor and dungeons drop.

The SL quests give pretty good credits rewards as I recall. The are scattered thru-out Nacense, Ely and Scheol. www.ao-universe.com has a listing

I wanted to say "thank you!" to everyone who replied in this thread. I'm still under a heavy cash crunch, but at the same time, the nano programs and equipment I have seems sufficient (so far) for accomplishing level-appropriate goals, so ... :-)

The best part of AO was always the community, I thought, and these fora are exemplar of that, in my opinion

Forgot to mention pocketbos patterns.. The common patterns that no one wants to buy from you can be sold individually to shop for quite a lot. Even the lowest level pattern pieces sell to shop for minimum 5k - usually 8-15k. Just DON'T combine them! If you do, any combined parts are worth NO credits in shop!

Just hang on to the more rare, sought-after patterns so you can sell them if you don't need them yourself...

you can also type /open faction if that button is not there.

~In SL take the "wilds" pillar. Head left till ya see a cave goin underground, and follow the right path until ya come to an entrance. Go inside and complete the dungeon collecting all the patterns and pearls ya can. Sell them for credz. Rinse and repeat.~

~Whether youre clan or omni, your token board is a extremely helpful little item to fill. It adds alot of AC's/health/nano/xp at later levels. Do as many missions as you can grind out. Not only will you make credz, but you'll fill your token board, AND if ya use clicksaver almost all those expensive nano's/armor/weps/etc. can be quested for.~

    (3) How do I see my faction standings?

    ~Target your toon and r/click.~

    (4) At level 9, I am still using the newbie pistols given to me at level 1. Where/how can I upgrade to a better weapon, please?

~Honestly as an advy I would suggest going 1he. I would also suggest using Sols(types F-T), until totw, then phase blades, back to Sols until ya can get on chiropteras and crispys chiropteras and Alien weps, by that time you'll be more familiar with the game, and wep selections.~

~Here is a list of very helpful(and in alot of cases Neccessary AO tools, etc.) links. Enjoy.~
