Do we know when 18.7 will go live?

Not finding any sort of release window in the searches, has there been any sort of hint at when it should be coming?

There seems to be a lot of work they need to get right before releasing it, so let it take whatever time it needs... winter maybe?

18.7 will be out before Duke Nukem Fore...oh wait...18.7 will be out before the end of the Mayan...oh nevermind...18.7 will be out before Ghostbusters 3. There, that should be a good estimate.

Tip #743: As noted in Tip #244, tea bags have an infinite variety of uses. However, there's always one jerk who will want to give you crap over drinking tea. Particularly if in a new town, use this as an opportunity to assert yourself. Any drunken idiot can win a bar fight. It takes a real man to win a bar fight while enjoying a cup of Earl Grey.

Updates need to start flying, I see game developers with staff of 5-10 people issuing weekly, monthly updates, often balance changing everywhere.

A staff of 5-10 people is most likely 2-7 more than what AO has, assuming those are allowed to work full time on AO only (of which I'm not particularily convinced).

It's not a good sign when, for example, you run into a coder (or in this case, THE coder) running around on a test server verifying world building bug reports, instead of doing what he should be.

"All things point to that they didn't play to win, but for the game itself and to play well. ... Later in their evolution, they forgot all about playing and having fun. When their corrupted minds only cared for what new ways they could gain power, there was no room for the simple things in life."

AO was first released in 2002. If you've worked on 12 year old code that someone else wrote you know you spend most of your time trying to figure out what they were smoking at the time (even if they were genius superstars), and you have to refactor parts to make it more 'yours', given a succession of developers that problem compounds. This makes it more difficult to make changes and less likely to be able to just plug in modern libraries that do a lot of the work for you. Change require more testing as it is harder to predict all the corner case repercussions.

I'd love to hear talk about updates as much as I'd love to hear talk about deadlines.

    Wont be holding my breath.

EDIT: I wish people would also stop making excuses for the developers. They know what they're involved in, and what's at stake. Their work already speaks volumes so no need to defend them.

So bored of waiting for new update that I started writing an android fitness game. 2 months of dev work and already my updates get late. Delve deep and I can see sphagetti code already. 3mb app. AO has 3gb of space so when my updates are 1 day late, theirs should be 3 years late. Its a small wonder we get updates at all. Excuses? Sphagetti code ftw, you fix something another breaks.

I am probably wrong or got the wrong end of the stick when i read it but I'm pretty sure someone official funcom sides (might of been macrosun in one of the monthly updates) said it having 12 months of testing once it hits testlive. Although that might of been the gfx engine and not 18.7.

Currently at work and on my phone so i will try to remember to look it up when i get in later.
