Sorroe, Tifanyx and his apprentices, searched all over Rome. It was a long process due to the fact that they were clanners searching in the heart of Omni territory. After two weeks of searching, the received a break in the case of the reversion patient. According to a few well placed clan spies in Omni-Tek, the story was a hoax. No such reversion had ever been recorded. There was no woman held captive. It was a trap to catch traitorous Omni-Tek employees.

Tifanyx's last hopes were crushed. He was destined to die.


1 August 29477

Dr. Hyland was not ready to give up so easily. While the antidote that Cathern supplied didn't cure him, it did slow the rate of deprivation. Tifanyx had a couple more weeks to get his affairs in order. As a last request, she promised Tifanyx that the search for a cure will continue even after his death. She had friends with connections and they were willing to take the case as a favor to her.

She gathered all her data on Tifanyx and the poison and prepared to send it off to her friends. Hopefully they will indeed find a cure and no other nanomage would have to suffer the same fate.

14 August 29477

For the couple weeks Alexander "Madtif" Markarian has been apologizing to Tifanyx over and over again for relaying the bogus story of the reversion patient. He felt guilty about it, and blamed himself for Tifanyxs impending death. The story was an elaborate trap to catch the clan spy Konjer who was working for Omni-Tek. Madtif was named Konjer while working for Omni-Tek but changed his identity so he would not get caught. The elaborate trap almost got him.

Madtif was so distraught over the situation, he desperately wanted to do something to help Tifanyx. Dr. Hyland told Madtif that she was passing Tifanyx's case off to some neutral friends, who were very talented scientists. She further explained that the only unfortunate part is they wouldn't have a living nanomage that was infected with the poison. The only way for them to truly know they had the proper antidote, would be to administer it into an infected Nanomage. There were no other reported cases of this type of poisoning, so the chances of finding an infected nanomage were slim. After hearing this, Madtif knew what he had to do. He came up with a crazy idea. Dr. Hyland was in shock when he explained the idea to her, but due to his previous over embellishments she did not believe he would actually do it.


15 August 29477

Dr. Hyland notes the time of death as just after midnight on 15 August 29477. She felt awkward performing the procedure Madtif requested on her dying friend. Tifanyx consented to the procedure and approved the plan, but still she wished that it wasn't done.

In accordance with Tifanyx's wishes, there was no funeral. Hunter, Nick, Cathern, Paz, Nimisha & Janeen were the only members of Whisper's Edge notified of his death. No one else was informed. Tifanyx wanted it that way.

Madtif told Dr. Hyland that he would like some time to grieve before implementing his plan. She told him that he had two weeks to grieve because after that she wouldn't have the time necessary to help him. She was partially joking, but also wanted to determine if he REALLY wanted to go through with his plan.

27 September 29477

Over a month and a half has passed since Tifanyx died. Kristin has tried contacting Madtif for weeks, and was ready to give up. Her scientist friends were growing impatient. Her friends were Jobe scientists, and with the successful opening of the Shadowlands portal, they had free time to pursue Tifanyx's case. They were happy to hear that Madtif would submit himself for research as it would help them find the cure at a faster rate.

They were expecting Madtif and the data from Dr. Hyland to arrive earlier this month. She ended up sending the data without Madtif and was informed that if Madtif wasn't there by 1 October, they would pursue other projects. Kristin was frustrated beyond belief, but that frustration quickly turned to anger when Madtif finally walked through the door.

She didn't even care to hear what happened to him and why he was a month overdue. She told him to prepare for the procedure. On the day before Tifanyx died, Madtif felt so guilty about the bogus reversion story that he offered up his life in the interest of science. If his life could help prevent the deaths of countless nanomages, he was ready to give it. In honor of his fallen mentor.

Dr. Hyland explained the procedure to Madtif one last time. The first step was to erase his memory. Next, she will infuse the infected DNA of Tifanyx into him. The sample was small enough to simulate that of the initial infection. The final step would be to implant the memory guidance chips and perform reconstructive surgery. To avoid the brain damaging affects of a bad implant, Dr. Hyland attached the memory modules to a metal plate that will be grafted to the nanomage's left eye. In time the memory chips, with portions of Tifanyx's memory, would activate and supply non intrusive hints as to his origins. All of this was necessary because Madtif was a wanted criminal and Omni-Pol almost caught him once. It was crucial that Madtif stay a few steps ahead of the law, in the interest of science and nanomages everywhere. She told him that if he ever got into trouble the implants would guide him, and she would no longer be able to help him.

Kristin completed the delicate procedure and Madtif as he once was, is no more.

1 October 29477

A few days have passed since the transformation procedure on the nanomage called Madtif. Dr. Hyland contacted the scientists and they picked up their nanomage test subject and return with him to Jobe.

Seven Months later...

2 May 29478

A lot of time has passed since Kristin turned over Tifanyx's case files and Madtif to her friends in Jobe Research. She had moved on and was happy with her new life in First Light. She promised herself not to interfere with the nanomage case, but after 7 months her curiousity got the best of her. Kristin contacted Jobe Research for an update. She learned that there was no record of a case involving poisoned nanomages currently being handled by Jobe Research. After some digging, a Jobe Research attendant reviewed the case file and explained why it was closed. She learned that case number K703-J was closed 6 months ago when the nanomage subject disappeared....
