    Froob Guide

    Nyel's Froob Guide

I think it is time for a froob guide to help all the new players out there using the free accounts.

If you are willing to help with comments and suggestions for this thread, please remember that froob accounts CANNOT use any items that require Shadow Lands, Alien Invasion, or Lost Eden expansion packs. That severely limits froob access to good weapons and armor. This guide is intended to help.

This guide might also help a new player pick a profession: Nyel's AO Guide to Professions

I included IP costs for common nano skills and weapon choices. Be sure to conserve IP when possible (don't max out nano skills that you will not need).

    Armor Choices

This is a list of my top picks for armor. Please note that most ACs come from the helmet, chest, pants, and back armor -- if you are short on credits, consider upgrading those first and letting the boots, sleeves, and gloves wait until you can afford them.

Click on any of the armor parts in the equipment configurator to see the individual stats.

    CAS Symbiotic Armor
solid choice, fairly inexpensive, has low cold damage resistance Tradeskill Guide

    Carbonum Plate Armor
solid choice, inexpensive, parts easy to buy and have created, great for leveling due to ease of replacement with higher level armor using same base stats, low energy and radiation damage resistance

    Omni Carbonum Plate Armor
more expensive than regular carbonum plate, I would not spend the credits until the twink is maxed out for leveling or the toon can wear the QL 200 version, low energy and radiation damage resistance

    Omni-Tek Steel Ribbed Armor
honestly I dont remember how to make this armor, I never used it personally but many friends loved it, has low radiation damage resistance

    Barter Armor TRADER ONLY
this armor is made in the same basic manner as CAS, it has low chemical damage resistance Tradeskill Guide

Cyborg Death Squad FIXER only (or FP agent)
Cyborgs drop this armor, it has low radiation damage resistance

Armor of Yearning META PHYSICIST only
Medusas drop this armor, it has low projectile and melee damage resistance

    Azure Reveries DIFFICULT to get
this armor must be camped by killing the Mercenaries, it is a time consuming process, has a Level 175 plus requirement, if you have the ability to get this armor -- you should not be reading this guide

    Superior Sentinel DIFFICULT to get
this armor must be camped by killing the Omni Tek Bosses and turning in parts, it is a time consuming process, if you have the ability to get this armor -- you should not be reading this guide

Omni Armed Forces DIFFICULT to get
this armor must be camped by killing the Clan Bosses and turning in parts, it is a time consuming process, if you have the ability to get this armor -- you should not be reading this guide

Living Dragon Armor DIFFICULT to get
this armor must be camped by killing the Dragon, it is a time consuming process, if you have the ability to get this armor -- you should not be reading this guide

NOTE: I included a list of armor for high level toons to aspire to one day. I do not suggest any new players even try to camp or buy armor that says "if you have the ability to get this armor -- you should not be reading this guide." I merely included those sets of armor to show that there is decent armor for a 200 level froob to wear without having to buy the expansions.

Most of my toons are omni or neutral so my armor picks lean more toward omni. Perhaps a few clanners will give some suggestions for good clan only armor.

Should be nice once it's all done. er if you need this space (if you decide to need more space) you can ask mod or someone to delete this post.
I think its good that someone is compiling a full guide for once.

As a small note that just about every guild i see is missing is (here's the shocker) froobs aren't all lvl 200...

area level guides and a list of "dungeons" with their levels would be handy. I remember way back in the day there was a huge list of level ranges for zones including mobs of interest. I think the mobs of interest became the dynaboss list by now but the rest of the zone still has things

    quick leveling suggestions for ledhead

Here is the path I took ages and ages ago before all of the expansions came out:

Start up area until level 5-10
Subway until I got bored but get the treatment Nucleus Basalis and multi wield Juggler's Treat rings before level 25
    Missions until about level 25-30
Temple of Three Winds kill the regular mobs in blue clothes until level 40
Virus Builders level 40 to 55
Temple of Three Winds level 40 to 60 kill legos and bosses for loot
    800x800 camp until level 80-95
    Cyborgs until level 130-140
Missions and dynacamps (download a map upgrade to find the levels Sphere Map) until level 200

When you get bored, do the sided shoulder pads quest Part 1 then Part 2 finally Part 3

    quick guide for making credits

I suggest everyone makes a level 25+ trader alt to sell items to the trader shop, even if you need to make a second free account to do it. (Trader shop automatically pays 25% more credits than regular shops.)

buy a bio com device and turn monster parts into blood plasma and have a level 25+ trader sell them to the trader only shop

team mission bosses drop CRUs which sell to other players for alien raids (currently 80k to 100k per quality level)

loot all chests and dead mobs from missions and have a level 25+ trader sell them to the trader only shop

any weapons or items that buff base abilities, XP%, or treatment can be sold to other players for a decent amount of credits ( I once bought XP pistols from a shop for about 30k each and sold them for 2 mil per pair, and I sold the entire backpack in less than a week.)

concrete cushions (100k to 250k per pair)
Nucleus Basalis Ring (100k to 500k each)
    Juggler's Treat Ring (250k to 3 million)

QL 190+ gold rings and robot junk sell for 1-3 million per bag to tradeskillers

mantis eggs sell for 1-3 mil each used to make VTEs which sell for 10 mil each or 25 mil a pair Tradeskill Guide

QL 190+ soul fragments sell for 1 to 2 mil each

QL 160+ cold stones sell for 1 to mil each (190+ sell quickest)

A tradershop sells 25% more if
    1) Assuming the comparison shop is to Clan/Neutral/NPC.
    2) Assuming the CL of the comparison is the same.

For Omni characters, its 10% margin on all OT marked shops (thus a +15% difference) Unless there is a fix on Miir shops and OT Maps, any Clan/Neutral can have access to it.

It might be beneficial for people who are still low in levels, casual froob players playing many low level characters. But if one plays only 1 character, once he/she reaches TL4-5, it may not be worth the time to do the transfering, as the more CL you have on the main, lowers the difference in return. Time spend in transfering could have been doing another looting run to fill up the lootbags. Furthermore, RK mobs give credits too.

Great guide by the way. It would be nice to point froobs towards AOFroobs, which has a good collection of information, tips and guides that benefit them.
