New nuke sounds

I am a sound engineer and Ive just recently moved to a new state. Ive been severely bored for awhile now and started replacing some of AO's old sounds.

So far I have managed to do the folder titled "spells". It's in what I guess some of you would call a "beta" stage. None of the sounds are mastered. And some may seem a tiny bit louder than others. I think over all my sounds are alot better than the old sounds FC seemed to use (IE: Everything sounded like a puff of air or steam.)

I 100% guarentee these files are clean. Im sure some of you will still check it out, so when you do, please post your approval.

I am posting here first because all the changes are dealt with Nano casting. I'm sure i'll be doing more in the future.

Funcom - Anarchy Online - cd_image - sound - sfx - spells

PS: Before you do this, I recommend you making a backup of the old "spell" folder just in case you want to switch back!

Check this out: A neat feature along with this package...
If you calm a mob and it resists you'll hear 1 sound played twice. If it the calm lands, you'll hear the nano sound and then a "puffy air" sound letting you know it landed. Very useful for me.

its also against eula to have 3rd party programs like Org bots and stuff.

I think as long as its not malicious FC is pretty cool about stuff.

Biggest example I could give is Modifying their GUI. 100% legal.

K, tried it out. Not bad, but a bit too "magical" for my taste.

a little too much, umm..brilliance to the buffing sounds. when u get 3-4 people buffing at same time, it gets kinda freaky sounding, lol. great initiative btw plz keep it up and maybe revise a bit when u can. keeping buffing sounds simple, uncluttered with uneeded layers of higher range noises, with unmistakable feedback about completion/failure would seem to be a good route, just my imo.

Yea, I think you are right on the buffing sounds. I've been playing with them for a few days. I will probably revise them tomorrow.

I would like to hear some feedback on casting sounds and nuke sounds (not just buffing sounds). Let me know!

So in the works I have new buff sounds coming...."Not so Magical" is the new theme lol!.


Also if you did downloaded the pack, chances are you are an NT and only using a few nanos. If you would try these things out and let me know what you think, Id be most appreciative. Even an "I just don't like it" is better than nothing

(Cast them on yourself and let me know)

- Fire Nukes (like IEF, Volcanic Eruption etc)
- Ice nukes (like Crown of Frost)
- Plasma Nukes (Like resonance blast)
- Roots
- Polymorphs (Vet. Leet morph works)

- Casting sounds (longer buffs/nukes work best)
- Try buffing yourself with NS(Or higher) and also the cast sound of SL nukes.

Cool initiative maybe if sounds weren't so dull and actually had more of a feedback use I'd play with them on... though I would probably still tend towards Winamp in the audio dept. when playing AO

Does this apply to all classes, or just NT's?
Cus I loathe the AO sounds, and any change is a welcome change (short of having barny the dinosaur sing "I love you, you love me" upon every heal)!

Playing Trader atm (yeh, yeh, I know, boo hiss and that, but I needed to try something new) and would ransack me mam for better sounds!
