AO - Sc-Fi (RK ding 220)
I was sure, only I am bothered about SL and only way to obtain lvl 220, by Fantasy Mode. Reading some post now, I would like to mention that pretty NICE stuff would be to make RK lvling able to 220. Let it be worse on XP (as whoe RK is), but let it BE.
I was always convinced, that AO is science-fiction game, about lasers, guns, robots - so is almost Whole RK. But SL is (as many state: WoWish, too fantasy). As a huge fan of Rubik-ka (Some say, its add-on to AO :P), I would really like to gain levels here, smashing Robots, in Unique locations, like Mines, Jails ect, Spaseships.
I am Aware, that SL is about SK, thus this gaining Shadowlevel is fair for SL only, yet, SL is addon for AO, not otherwise. The game ITSELF is Sc-fi, and endgame content should base on base game, not addons.

In some aspects of what you say, I agree, AO is a Sci-Fi game at its core. However, Endgame is about completing all aspects of the game.
The problem lies in that the best XP in game, is to be gained in SL, be it from Hecklers or from Inferno missions (that being said, I still maintain that a good team on RK doing missions, can earn better XP and loot than a heckler team can, but in the days of OSTs/Kite teams, its just not the case anymore.
How do we fix the problem? Quite simple really.. Nerf the XP gain from SL, make grey mobs (including hecklers) flee from higher level players, and ideally nerf the XP that you can gain in missions. Almost everyone agree's these days that having 160-205ish players, on LFT looking for teams for inferno missions, is laughable, and when I was levelling my soldier, if you were grey, I wasn't joining or inviting you (yes I got some hate, but honestly, I didn't really care).
Nerf XP in SL, and push people back to RK.. When I started out, all those years ago, Newland Hill was buzzing with people looking for teams, it was fun back then, now it is kite, kite, kite, ice golem, get to trial, /lft Inf Mish Pl0x..
*grumbles like a good old person should*

Although I agree with grey hecklers (and other outdoor mobs) fleeing from higher level players, I wouldn't change it in SL static dungeons. If grey static dungeon mobs ran from higher level characters, those high level characters could just stroll through looting all chests, looking for pearls and rare SL nanos, and leaving nothing for anyone else. As it is now, at least when higher level characters are doing that, they have to go through the annoyance of killing those grey mobs.

grey mobs in missions/dungeons, have always had a different mechanic to outdoors when it comes to aggro, even on RK

All the Fantasy is tied into the Sci-Fi.
If you don't want to deal with the Shadowlands, don't buy it, and your endgame will be level 200.

I agree with most of what the OP said. I'm not really a fan of SL at all. It still has traces of sci-fi, but not much. Just enough to justify it as an expansion onto AO. The aliens... Do not like. Doesn't fit the theme at all. They could have done ANYTHING, but they had to be cliche and pick aliens. LE... there's no content. Not really. A single playfield. Research doesn't really count as "content". It's a "time sink", nothing more. LoX... I'm not even going there.

well the dust brigade zone nevera one actual gains sk there, but the difficulti there doesnt lent itself to soloing, would very much welcome the ability to get Sk on rubi-ka, be it Dusti and friends in missions or that those unuses zones to the south where there are only player cities put to some good use with Sk there.

Oh yeah! Rampage and destruction in the Coast of Peace and Coast of Tranquility should give you SK.
