Thread: Shopping Window

  1. #1

    Shopping Window

    Consider a shopping window (similar to LFT window) with columns Player Name, Description, Expire Time, Price

    So players with adding "WTS/WTB" in lft windows will switch over to shopping and it will really help to sell some short term goodies

    So we will get around 3 ways to sell our things GMS, Channels, Shopping Window.

    Just another thought, any suggestions are welcome.

    Not too bad of an idea. Would solve the problem of different sub-channels of the shopping channel (bor, rome, athen, etc). And the lft window is used like this already anyway. Bump.

    Good idea, except I think there should be some restrictions, like:

    1) players cannot set an automatic expiration time. But they can manually remove their own listings. Otherwise, two or three hours should be more than enough time.
    2) the listing should remove itself when the player logs off.
    3) One listing per player at a time.

    No posting needed. There are multiple bot's collecting the shopping channel info's and storing into a database. The mentioned website ist just a listing.

    So, we just need a '/tell <WTBbotsname> search <string>' command...

    Oooh, the possibilities...

    regards

    AO Junkyard would still serve a purpose, but this WTS window being proposed would have a few benefits, namely:
    1) it's official and in-game, so it won't be necessary to tab out or use windowed mode;
    2) one would have to manually activate it, rather than accidentally posting an item in shopping and having the bot pick it up anyway;
    3) it would only show listings from online players;
    4) a low number of listings allowed would encourage people to remove listings upon selling the relevant items.

    All this would reduce confusion and frustration with the current system.

    AOJunkyard would keep its own benefits. There would certainly be more items in its pages and it keeps listings for like a week in case an item actually doesn't sell quickly. Plus, it stores the message from which the item was gleaned, in the (increasingly rare) event that someone also posts an asking price.
