@@@@ FORMER PLAYER RETURNING: A few questions

I played AO for a couple months when it first came out and (like many) quit due to the bugs, instability, dramatic swings in gameplay via patches, etc. I am going to give AO another shot, and I just re-upped my account.

    I had a few questions:

    1) Was there ever an IP reset? One of my biggest gripes was that the huge balance changes rendered a lot of IP expenditure choices null and void. Did they ever give the customers the IP change they wanted?

    2) Can Clan alligned players use Omni Pol and Omni Pol armor? These were two of the best looking and highest quality armors. When they made it so clan folks couldn't use this in a patch, it was a real downer.

    3) What are the good fan sites now? I remember AO Basher, AO Vault, AO Forge, and Dr. Twister. What are the best sites for tips, maps, utilities, etc?

That is about it for now. Thanks!

    1) AWESOME! How does it work?

    2) What do you mean they have to go to Omni? Do you mean they just teleport over to some Omni controlled territory and then they can equip it? What armors are better?

    3) Thanks for the suggestions. I would definitely appreciate more info on the top unofficial sites!

    1. Ip reset,,, Quote/

IPR will now become an active part of the game. You will get IP re-allocation points each time you raise a title level.

These points will be there until you use them, and will be visible in the same GUI as your regular IP points. These can be used to reset one skill, (point and click) and get all the IP back. You can select whichever skill or ability you like - except map navigation.

You cannot wear anything - no implants, no armour, no NCUs - nothing - when you use the IPR.

The system will be backwards compatible, in the sense that if you are level 200 you will get ALL points from all previous title levels.

    Here's how it is calculated:

    Level 1 - 1 IPR

    Level 15 - 2 IPR

    Level 50 - 2 IPR

    Level 100 - 3 IPR

    Level 150 - 3 IPR

    Level 190 - 4 IPR

    End quote/

    At level 1= 1 IPR
    Level 15= 2 IPR
They stacks so it will be 3 IPR

They also had a total ip reset ability for a limit of time between 2 patches but that is no longer aviable, only this IPR to reset some skills.

    2. As far as i know omni armor is still only for omni chars.

    3. Other sites that is also good to check is this

    http://www.anarchylore.com/

    http://ao.stratics.com/

    And btw welcome back

A little hint, read the patch forum for the resent patch realeses, they cover the most important thing that happend in thos months u have been away.

    2. I meant go omni for 1 day and put on armor and go back

thats all. and the best armor is servants of eight and kirch and those new armor types

  6. #6
what QL servants of eight? Because I found a helm that was level 88, how much would that go for? but you have to be level 99 to wear it.

AO Basher and AO Vault are still around and I vist them all the time.
Anarchy Zone (http://oldwatchtower.homestead.com/index.html) is very useful

UGH! I missed it? That's terrible! I hope they rethink this.

Thanks for the tips and information!

you only missed the Full Reset, but depending on your lvl you may still have enough IP-reset points to 'ungimp'.

    i.e. I´m lvl 123 and have 7 Reset-points, pretty enough.

just leave alone 'minor mistakes' (useless skills you uppend only a little bit) .... oh and one important point:

Make sure you hit the 'Accept' button after every single reset, maybe even zone, there was a bug reported when you do multiple resets and I don´t know if this is fixed already.

I hope they rethink the full IP reset thing. Everyone deserves this.

I can imagine your disappointment, but I am afraid they won´t. It was stated quite clearly, that this option will be only available between 14.2 and 14.4.

Well, from 11.0 until 12 or 13 something, they said there would never be an IP reset either.

They made their customers furious for months, and tons quit over it.

Will they learn their lesson from that or not?

It seems like they smartened up and regained some of their much lost "positive buzz."

The question is: will they make the exact same mistake and deny a full IPR reset to everyone? Or will they LEARN from their old mistakes, and let all players created pre-14.2 have a full IP reset.

the point-based IPR reset is more than enough to ungimp your character. at higher levels people are using them to experiment and change weapon types

not trying to be condescending or nothing, but you took a longer break from the game than most players. most everybody who got fed up at launch and decided to come back, did so when FC were giving out the free month awhile back. due to that, they all had active accounts when the temporary full-IPR was implemented and took advantage of it

  14. #14
    170patience, I didn't take it as condescening. =)

Well, from what I have read here, a lot of people who were playing between 14.2 and 14.4 missed it also. The time span was really short, and a lot of people were afraid of the IP reset bugs that were being reported (and with AO's bug history, this is a legitimate fear).

Many folks were afraid to be the "guinea pigs" who did the IP reset early on. Then blamo.... 14.4 appears and the chance is gone.

The fact is that anyone who made their character in the first 4-6 months of the game MORE than deserves an IP reset. The game changed DRAMATICALLY, and those folks suffered through 1) no story 2) UNGODLY instability 3) tons of missing features (no trade skills at all, damn near impossible to build implants without spending DAYS running between shops, etc).

    Unfortunately, it won't happen.

Funcom continues to alienate its customers. I think they are attempting to alienate everyone still left playing at the moment, by shifting it over to a lvl based system... Yay, now AO might as well be worthless. They say "It wouldn't be balanced for the expansion without the lvl requirements on new items."

And the point of the skill system is what then?

Soon as a decent game comes out I'm outta here...
Earth & Beyond looks very promising. Neocron has potential. And don't forget the 800 pound gorilla of SWG.

lol... I remember. I was one of the guys with the ATI bug. I couldn't get past the character creation screen coz everything was black to me. They finally patched that and when I left the newbie yard and saw Omni-Trade for the first time, my jaw dropped. A minute later the game crashed on me. Everytime I logged in after that, the game crashed on me. I ended up keeping my characters in the newbie yard until the game got more stable.

anyway, there still is no story. trade skills are more like something different to do if you got extra ips and money to waste. personally I'm waiting for SWG to come out and I'm switching. this is still a great game, just that I'm hella bored and burnt out on it after doing missions for a year.

And here I thought people gave up on saying it wan't skill based anymore since the last patch, you know because you need skills to use the nanos.

But what happens when your skills reach that point far before you reach the level requirement? It turns into a lvl based system, since you are just waiting for the lvl req to use it.
