    The official new opifex heads so far have all been a bit off somehow. They've been very round and the overall look has been too young. This on the other hand looks perfect. Only missing piercings, but i'm not sure if those are needed.

    Thanks y'all! Your feedback is what really keeps me going here.

    Speaking of which, here's some minor and major facial iteration and subtle shape tweaks. Credit for much of this goes to my awesome colleague who also used to play AO. You know who you are, and you're brilliant!



    Also it's a funny thing, the more I work on this the more I see people turning out to be emotionally very attached to this stuff. Not in a bad way, mind you. It's certainly a good bit of a challenge breathing new life into something you first think to be rather vague and lacking much definition. This is actually helping me grow a lot as an artist

    E: Got to work on the outfit finally. Messing around with different colour schemes to try and find a cool look.

    When I first looked at this thread I was amazed by your work, and then I tabbed through and when I finally saw this last Opi head rendering, I'm wondering if FC has picked you up yet or not. Because you really deserve a seat on their team for Graphic Design, very impressive artwork.

    New eyes are perfect. The ears though... why make them so elf-like? I liked the previous version more where they were just a little bit pointy, much like the current in-game version. Other than that, this looks sooo much better than the ones we're going to get.

    Like seen in this image for example. (That's the latest version I was able to find by quickly browsing through the FwM's).

    Oh thanks, I managed to miss that despite digging through FwM's several times, I knew it was somewhere in there.

    I changed the ears because of feedback from multiple people saying they were too small. This is one thing where I've found you really can't please everyone, since opis have had big elf ears to begin with, but what's too elvish for one person is not pointy/big enough for another, and then you have a third one coming in that says it shouldn't be pointy at all. I can at least definitely say the current rounded, curved form is different from any elves I've seen in other games or media.
    It's a tricky thing trying to get right, since the original models are very, very vague and there is no official concept art availabe (any that I'd have found) that would depict the original vision accurately.

    Again, thanks for the comments and feedback everyone, I'll continue work today once I'm through my hangover.

    As a render it is looking really nice, but there's still something like a factor 1000 more polygons in Miru's render than what would make sense to have in a game where you can have upwards of hundreds of people on screen at the same time.

    As I said in my initial post on this project: I'm making a low-poly realtime version of this model through retopology when the high-poly version is done. It will be in the ballpark of 6000-7000 polygons while retaining all detail through baked texture and normal maps. It's the exact same way FC's new heads have been done. The high-detail version is projected onto the low-poly model.

    Naturally no game engine would run something this huge, the entire point is to make something ridiculously high-detail and bring all the detail down into a low-poly version

    Far as the opi full body I think you should make her thinner overall, or flesh out her whole body and face. Course I'm thinking thinner thighs and bigger boobs but that's only one way to go. The sprigs coming out of her head are also supposed to be hair, I think, and that's getting lost in you re-render. Overall I like what you're doing and am glad you're putting the time and effort into it.
