    Reflective water

Is it on the cards? even minecraft has this now and coupled with the new lighting system, it has a massive impact on the visual immersion of the game.

    Pretty please?

    cheers

It does require another render pass. If the reflections were perfect it would mean twice the load on the GPU, but that load can be scaled to lower and lower quality reflections.

I don't think the Dreamworld engine had this until recently. TSW's Tokyo has very low resolution water reflections, so we might be able to get something based on that.

Well, technically the old engine had it. The side effect was that Offscreen Surface Technology made everything else look like garbage, but it did add very nice water reflections.

It would be great to see, but I won't hold my breath. I don't play AO for the immersion...

As long as it also gets rid of the 'bucket o' blue dye' effect the water sees to have picked up as well

If they have performance issue with reflective water, you can use pretender cube texture maps, i use this in my games now and then. No reason not to have reflective water.

I also wonder why there is no new graphics settings for Dx9 features. Lazy developers.
