My wife and I have decided to return again but the booming community that once was is all but forgotten. We were just wondering if there we're any active orgs or anyone really still around.

Lots of many active orgs but with only like 1-20 people. We need an org alliance system.

Which faction are you? If Clan, come check out Athen Paladins. We're one of the biggest and oldest (we celebrate our 13th anniversary this year) orgs in game. We're also part of The Alliance which consists of 16 other clan orgs. Our most active time is GMT although we have players from all timezones. In our org alone we can have 20+ online at that time and that's not counting the alliance orgs. We also have raids every day.

For other factions though, I am not sure.
