    Paysafecard/virtual wallets

    I could use a guide in order to be confident enough to spend money on a virtual credit card or paysafecard for example.
    As a dyslexic who has trouble understanding payment processes, I will not be well able to navigate through the accounts payment page with anything non standard that has no information on the process.
    Surely Funcom you can add a section for virtual wallets.
    A lot of AO players are nerds who don't use banks/paypal.. I'm one of those people and would love to re-open my account.

    If anyone could give a step by step guide, preferably with pictures or exact text, I would appreciate it greatly.
    Before anyone asks, I don't/won't be using Steam.

    I have used paysafecard lots of times for other games and I've read that some people have managed to get this to work for Anarchy online too.
    But there is just one thread on this topic in English and one in German, neither give information on how to actually do it..

    I'd suggest that a dev or whomever is responsible in this area, creates a visual guide so the company can receive payments from more people.
    Don't you know how many are away because they can't give you there money?
    Have you tried mass emails to let people now this is actually possible with a paysafecard or virtual wallet?

    Sometimes I really wonder what is going on here.
    Is it realistic to have such a bottleneck with information and methods for payment? ^^
    I don't understand why payment methods are not the top priority, before development...

    Sadly Funcom is known far and wide, for their astonishing mishandling and skewed priorities, not only for AO.

    Im just one of those suckers that love AO, and will until they either close the game down. Or give it the priority it deserves.

    In any case, i do hope you will find a way to join AO again.

    I'd say, just make a PayPal account, it is totally safe, and you don't need to store anything on it. Give your card details, transfer the $$$ you will spend on AO, then delete your card details. Quite simple really, and much better than to wait for Funcom to change

    I don't have credit card and don't use a bank account.
    As far as I know I can't use paypal without hooking it up to a bank account.
    This isn't a problem with all poker sites so far, as they all take online wallets or directly from paysafecard.
    I know from forums that some people have managed to use paysafecard with AO. Just nobody seems to want to share how exactly

    Yes, PayPal is very safe! You just need to send them your social security number or other personal information in snail mail to verify your account.

    nop, no need for that. Paypal charges your credit card for $1 to verify your card, and immediately refunds it. I think you only need to give more details if you are a merchant, which is understandable I think

    that said, Funcom has a tricky way of circumventing paypal security measures. they make you preapprove all future payments, so you cannot reclaim them. My account recently went frozen and FC charged me $70 for 1 month.... been over 24 hours and still no word from customer service... :/
    Sheesh, why does Funcom have the worst customer handling of all companies? I've been a customer for like 10+ years and always had rough bumps with their billings :/ they eventually resolve them, but making you cringe every time you pay for something is not good rep for a company

    You can choose if you want to add a bankaccount or a credit card. No need to add a bank account.
    It tells you to add a bank account but there is a link which says "Add a credit card first" or something similiar at the bottom.

    And seeing the payment options on funcoms page you either need a creditcard or a paypal account.
    With everything else you seem to be out of luck.
    Don't know if it is possible to get a prepaid credit card without a bank account..
    It might be possible to add a payssafecard to paypal depending on your country.

    But I'm not a merchant. I had an account before they changed their policy and the account is forever locked until I provide that info to them.

    I've tried making subsequent accounts and that's all they ask for.
    I've gone through their support (email & call) and that's all they say I need to provide to get full access to an account. So I would not recommend PayPal in the slightest.

    As of April, 2012, new Federal Regulations require Money Service Businesses, such as PayPal, to verify the identity of a customer before we can provide various services or product offerings. As a result, PayPal must ensure we have collected and verified important data such as customer name, address, date of birth, and national tax ID or social security number.
    ^ is the very reason I am unable to use a PayPal account. As you must send your SS# to them through the mail along with other identification that, if taken, would easily be used for Identity Theft.

    Interessting.. I'm using it for years and not once did I have to provide any proof whatsoever. They just did what aramsunat said with my bank account and credit card to verify they exists and that was that. Maybe country dependend laws that change how they have to do that.

    I try to see if paypal will allow me to keep an account with just a paysafecard as my credit card.~
    It seems from the link you sent that after ordering a paysafecard credit card I might be able to use it like a credit card.
    Possibly even allowing my to bypass paypal and pay directly to funcom.
    It's going to take me a while to figure this out though. If I succeed I'll return here with info on how.

    one time i paid for a subscription with an american express gift card. These are only supposed to work with merchants inside the U.S. The payment went through however, for about 10 minutes. during that time i was able to set up all my perks on my main. when I logged off and back on to see that my account was frozen, I contacted FC support to have my account reverted back to a froob account (since I never accessed shadowlands it was still possible). When I went back to my main, I found that I was a froob account except with all the perks and perk attacks of a paid player.

    Fun times. now that account eventually got paid legitimately and its no longer sploited.

    It's very simple - FC prefer to charge you by own, instead of letting you explicitly pay for subscription, especially now when AO in "Maintenance mode" (as they call it).
    Option to pay using PayByCash Service (owned by Visa nowadays) which allow you to pay using "virtual wallets" without sharing yours cred card info to FC - now available only to very few players who setup it like 10 years ago.
    Option to anonymously buy "game-time codes" - removed like 8 years ago too. And I'm remember huge difference between buying game-time anonymously and sharing cred-card info to FC. Just 2 cases when FC failed to provide services I paid for within reasonable time to illustrate my point:

    Case 1, happens in like year 2007 - 2008: Bought "game-time code" for another 6 months by PBC service, as usual, bot no purchased code received to email (gmail one) or shown in my FC account within 2h - n/p, "**** happens", so bought another one (which delivered normally within 2-3min) and continued to play AO. Waited another ~20h for nothing and sent mail to both PBC and FC support with text like "bla-bla... I paid $X for service Y, but it still not provided, here are screenshots from my PBC page, up to wait another day or 2, but please suggest proper and fastest way to make charge-back If I'm not receive my service within reasonable time" - in result I received email with my code and [formal] FC apologizes next morning (within ~12h since said mail). Took me ~2h to make my acc playable again and FC solved their problems with my payment ASAP.

    Case 2, end of 2013, option to anonymously buy "game-time code" not available anymore: payment done, but something goes wrong at FC or PBC side, n/p, "**** happens", so paid again but it not helped. next day emailed FC support, but not received any human-written response for like 2 weeks and tried to contact LiveChat support. In result I'm wait almost 3 weeks and receive only lame excuses from FC support till they managed to solve it... Just few quotes:

    2013-12-19 - payment date

    2014-01-02 19:59:15 Customer: my ~130 EUR payments stuck at PayByCash cause for some unknown reason FunCom can't process it
    2014-01-02 20:02:50 Customer: and all attempts to comminicate FunCom support via email looks to be just ignored
    2014-01-02 20:06:19 Customer: anything I can do to help you solve this FunCom issue? well-prepared complain to USA BestBusinessBureau? (I'm know - I'm not USA citizen)
