Personally I tought they were fine as they were, sharp and vibrant. These kind of look blurry and confusing to me.

Cant say I am a big fan because they strain my eyes looking at a large group of them.

Err.... actually no; none of the new icons are in those screenshots (or in-game yet, for the matter). XD What you're probably seeing is a change we made in the way our icons are handled (long story, resolutions were wrong, i'll get genele in here to explain it later because she understands it better than i do).
But yeah - No new icons in yet. =)

Yes they were fine. Misdirected efforts if you ask me unless there's a incoming GUI change or something that makes that new golder border around icon necessary.
If it works, don't fix it.
