    Is this really even an issue, let alone one worth making a thread over? Apart from a slight coloured border around nano icons and a few minute changes to perk icons, are there even any differences?
    Not trying to be hostile but I honestly don't see what all you guys hate about it. Maybe if running AO in super low-res the borders might be thicker, but then coloured lines are the least of your worries.

    Screen real estate is a serious issue that most game companies should do more to take seriously. If you look at Curse.com for example, nearly all the most popular mods are UI changes that clean up screen real estate (or customise them for prof specific needs) in games such as WoW, Aion, Warhammer, etc

    edit: presumably you'll be able to buy a nice clean UI soon with $F$P$

Another ironic thing is that the downfall happened due to pvm conflict. More Ebag: I don't have any twinks currently, nor do I participate much in mass TL7 PvP (though I do go occasionally, usually just to watch). Questra: an MP in sneak eNSDed me and did about 20k damage in 10-12 seconds

    I love the new icon for Trader Composite Specialist Tradeskills, since i no longer have to mouse over to remember if that's the one running or if an MP just buffed me Comp Mochies.

    Otherwise, I'm jumping on the whine bandwagon about the borders and since I play on a laptop, the behe buff on the hotbars needs to go.

    Yes it is an issue. Now before I say anything else, I've never complained about icons before, I think they looked just fine before. That said, there is no reason to downgrade icons when you are working on a huge engine project to upgrade the look of the game. It isn't just the weird little borders around all the nanoprogram icons to "make it easier to understand the different nano schools", it's also the horrible way all the perk icons have been stretched to fit in the new windows. This causes blurring and very noticeable pixelation and before you say "don't play on a netbook with no resolution", I play AO at 1920x1080 and I've looked at the icons on another monitor and a laptop at different resolutions. The new icons and consequently also most of the remaining old ones do look much worse than they did before the change and I notice it every time I log on.

    Now some people might not have any issues with this change. Fair enough, but no matter how you look at it, there is no logical reason to make your game look worse all of a sudden after 10 long years. You would think they would go the other way and make the icons look brand-spanking-new. I am hopeful that this was their goal when they started, but it obviously didn't work out as one would hope.

    By screen real estate, do you mean physical space on the screen? I'm honestly trying to figure out the prob people have with this, and hadn't noticed anything change size.

    I play at 1080p so I had figured maybe people were playing at lower resolution, but doesn't seem to be the case. Save for the coloured borders I simply cannot see a big difference, and this seems like an odd thing to get worked up about.

    If it has changed size, surely its only the couple of pixels for the border?

    I don't really see a problem with the new icons. I mean they are not super awesome or anything but no where near as ugly to me as everyone here seems to be claiming. While the borders really has no use for me, I can see how the different border colors would make it easier for newer players to learn what type of nanos they need to use a bit faster.

    Why do everyone have to go "omg roll back! NOW!" when there's a change they don't like?
    And why is it 100% impossible for the average forum populance to say something along the lines of "Hey I like the idea about being able to see the difference between self/friendly/hostile nanos! The current icons don't look too good however, any chance those can be improved?"

    I play at 1920x1080 or 1600x1000 if windowed. the GUI mess is simply one of too many superfluous lines, aside from the fact that the icons were too big yet unintelligible (too much the "same") anyway. We should get that guy who did the unique graphics for rings to do an update, but as a free mod I can't imagine what the recent changes be like on my old machines (1200x800 or w/e) which were hideously cluttered

    The problem is the scaling of the perk icons. Hotbars were increased in size and it looks like the icons were scaled too. With a bad algorithm maybe. A regular blt scaling of the engine from the looks of it.

    The ingame shop looks terribly pixelated for me too, is this related? (like when trying to play games on an unsupported resolution in the 1990s)

    I too think these new icon are questionnable and that it has a WoW feel. This could make sense in theperspective of dragging new player to the game in the future (just a small factor that would add up with lot other minor things).

    Nevertheless i think this is a really minor issue, that 99% of us will be used to it after 2 month and that it doesn't worth a thread

    Showing a bit more respect for the work & time put into this change wouldn't hurt.

    why not point out to stop messing with good things and put work & time into the real problems. i was also lookin forward to see what icons they came up with, and showing FC that they did them WRONG ! and give us at least the decency and option to change em back to how they were before screwing em up is the least they can do.

    I like the new icons, and don't really see where you're all getting on about pixels for. I see no more pixels than before.

    What I do dislike about this patch is the fps hit I took from it. Lost at least 5fps average across all bloody zones D:
