Thread: Problem with Borderless Window mode

  1. #21
Masta, are you using multiple monitors?
If yes, what's the resolution on those?

edit: Talked to masta on IRC, seems it mostly comes down to not using a screen-filling resolution. (which is impossible with AO on his incredible high res screen)

would be nice to have the ability to minimize, if possible. may not be the right thread to discuss the topic, but it is a "problem with borderless window mode" that people in my org are having at least. not completely related to OP, but still on topic to some degree. most of us have gone back to regular window mode till its fixed, unfortunately.
wtf happened to my avatars eyebrows?

I used to listen to Dubstep in the 90's... every time I connected to the internet.

Slightly off topic here: Have anyone else noticed that the client uses 2 to 4 times as much memory when running the game in borderless windowed mode compared to fullscreen?

I like the borderless mode. But if duallogged both windows seem to maximize or minimize simultaneously which forces my PC to run at 100% all the time (fan and heat stress).

With borders you could minimize one window and play with the other maxed.

    Any ideas?

That's not a problem with borderless window mode. The point of a borderless window is to reap the benefits of running fullscreen, while still having access to all the things in the background, and without fear of crashing everything or weird goings on when running fullscreen and wanting to tab out. As not all applications support tabbing in and out of fullscreen properly.
It's a "this app is my primary focus" mode. If you want to run 5 clients at once, move windows around, minimize and whatever else it is you're doing, borderless window is ... well, not for you but it IS for me.

Hmm, I don't understand . You say borderless window mode has the advantage of fullscreen with easier tabbing out... isn't easier tabbing out exactly what you need to reliably run multiple clients?

i'm playing dual logged, windowed fullscreen, and i use alt tab to switch to one window to other, it's working pretty fine.

when playing fullscreen, most of time game crashes or something goes wrong (video or sound, or both). windowed is the only way to alt tab (web or other window, or even other game (for some addicts yes)) withtout these issues.

not sure why your responding the way you are, or even at all, wasnt even directed at you, but yeah it is a problem. if you are dual or triple logging, minimizing a client helps with lag on the other in some scenarios. ergo, as much as I and many others love the borderless window mode, its lacking in a single functionality that would make it "perfect". as it is now, its awesome, and vhab deserves more than a pat on the back for his work, but borderless is still lacking that one thing. will the option to minimize the window ever get added? probably not. but there's a better chance of it happening if someone says something. and... thats all im doing.

Borderless sounds awesome, but I play too many chars at once, so don't think i"ll ever want to use it if it slows me down that much. Cool feature regardless!
